Four Years

As we set out on our fifth year of marriage, we have a 6 month-old foster child and are perhaps 5 weeks from the arrival of a firstborn son. That my wife can put up with me, a 20+ lb infant, and pregnancy (and a semester of teaching horribly recalcitrant adult students) is a testament to her inner strength. We could not have known four years ago what this would be like, so I suspect we also can't properly imagine what four more years will bring. There is much to be done and much to be grateful for, but in this moment I will savor a brief rest and reflect on my good fortune.
